Sharon Gauci
A woman, a mother, a leader. A dreamer, a believer, an achiever. An entrepreneur who rose through the ranks of her family business, gradually working her way up to the CEO position she occupies today of Malta’s largest organizations.
Sharon has been involved in the business from a very young age – accompanying her father to work since she was a girl. She was her father’s shadow and considers Mario Gauci, to be her mentor and inspiration. At the age of 16, she joined the company officially on a full-time basis. This wasn’t an easy task at the time – going into a business that was considered to be a man’s realm. She started off by selling spare parts and tyres. Clients would come to the shop and wonder if she was able to help them with their requests! She was willing and eager to learn, and she did.
Nothing deterred her from learning the ropes of her father’s business, including joining him at the docks to receive cargo when the company imported vehicles from the UK and helping to clear large trucks from customs. She even went as far as to fill the role of truck driver when the need arose! She started her career in the lowest ranks and gradually took on the responsibilities of her present position, that of a director with responsibilities including vehicle purchasing, sales, leasing, and business development.
Now, together with her father and siblings, she has got her sights set on further growth, while retaining the company’s hard-earned position as market leader. Just like a soldier, Sharon fights where she belongs, and she wins where she fights. This is the attitude that inspires all employees, clients, suppliers, partners, and prospective entrepreneurs, who cross their paths with hers. She modernized the company and helped with the diversification within the construction, automotive, and other industries.
